“The Sparrowman” movie filmed in Southwest Kansas

“The Sparrowman” is an independent Christian film that was recently filmed in Liberal, Garden City, and Elkhart, KS and Hooker, Ok. Writer and director, Joel Trujillo originally created the Sparrowman as a comic book at the age of 13 and is now making it into a feature film.

“The Sparrowman” is a feature film about a young, second generation Christian superhero who is struggling with his faith in God. His struggle began after the death of his wife, leaving him to raise their daughter alone. Can the Sparrowman handle being a single parent and fighting crime at the same time, or will he continue to take the law into his own hands with violence and aggression? He soon finds out the answer when he travels back in time to the year 1958. There, he runs into his grandfather, the original Sparrowman, whose life is in danger by someone from the future.

This Christian superhero movie is about faith, hope, salvation and redemption. The movie will be at select Mitchell Theaters in October 2016.

Writer/director Joel Trujillo says, “My hope is that this movie will bring people into a new or deeper relationship with Christ. Your support will help make this project a greater success than my team could do on our own.”

Joel adds, “This film will be my tenth foray into solo movie directing. I have been the recipient of two Telly Awards, a premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films.”

We hope that you will prayerfully consider helping the efforts of Christian film making right here in Southwest Kansas. On behalf of writer and director, Joel Trujillo, and the cast and crew, we thank you for supporting “The Sparrowman.”
